Register your brand
About a 3-minute read.
Your brand is your business identity in the 10DLC system. Campaigns, phone numbers, and throughput all sit underneath it. You register one brand per business entity. (If you build agents on behalf of other companies, each of those businesses is its own brand, see the note at the end.)
If you haven't yet, run through Gather these before you start first. The fields below assume you have your information ready.
Step by step
- Sign in to agentmessage.io.
- Go to Campaigns → Brands.
- Click Register brand.
- Fill out the form (fields below), checking your entries against your IRS CP-575 letter.
- Submit. AgentMessage files the brand with the registry.
- Watch the status. Most brands verify within minutes. Unverified means something didn't match, see Fix an Unverified brand.
What each field needs
Legal business name. Exactly as it appears on your CP-575. Capitalization doesn't matter; spelling and punctuation do. Drop "Inc.", "LLC", or "Ltd." only if they aren't on the letter. Stick to letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, and ampersands.
If the CP-575 shows the name across two lines, enter line 1 alone first; if that fails, retry with both lines joined by a space.
EIN (Tax ID). Nine digits, no dashes, matching the legal name above.
DBA / brand name (optional). The name customers know you by, if different from the legal name. This is the name that can appear in some carrier-facing displays.
Entity type. Match how you're registered with the IRS:
- Private for-profit, most LLCs, S-corps, and C-corps that aren't publicly traded.
- Public for-profit, a publicly traded company. You'll provide a stock ticker, and a public-company verification step may apply.
- Non-profit, a registered 501(c) organization.
- Government, a federal, state, or local government entity.
- Sole proprietor, note that AgentMessage requires an EIN; the EIN-less sole-proprietor path isn't supported. If you don't have an EIN, read I don't have an EIN before going further.
Brand relationship. A registry tier, Basic, Small, Medium, Large, or Key account. Most starting brands are Small. This tier influences your carrier throughput and per-message fees, so pick the one that honestly reflects your size.
Business vertical/industry. The closest fit to your primary line of business. Reviewers compare it against your website and samples, so pick something honest.
Country, registration state, and address. Where the business is incorporated and its address on file with the IRS.
Website URL. A live page about your business. It's checked automatically, broken links, expired SSL, and parked domains fail.
Business phone and support email. Real and reachable; the email ideally at your own domain.
Stock ticker and exchange. Only if you chose Public for-profit.
"I don't have a website"
Bring something live, a Google Business profile, an active LinkedIn page, a single landing page. A brand with no online presence at all is very hard to verify. The fastest fix is usually to publish even a one-page site before submitting.
After you submit
Your brand moves through statuses:
- Pending, filed, the registry is checking your name and EIN.
- Verified, confirmed. You can register a campaign under it.
- Unverified, something didn't match. See Fix an Unverified brand.
For what every status means, see Brand statuses, explained.
Editing a brand later
Brand edits (and re-verification) are handled by AgentMessage today rather than as a self-serve form. If you need to change a brand's details after it's filed, especially the legal name or EIN, contact support and we'll make the change and re-file it.
If you build agents for other companies
When your agents act on behalf of other businesses (not your own), each of those businesses is registered as its own brand, with its own EIN, and AgentMessage files each with the registry on your behalf. This mode requires a higher-tier plan; the dashboard will guide you through it when you register a second brand.
