Attach phone numbers
About a 2-minute read.
Once your campaign is fully approved, you connect phone numbers to it and start sending. A number can belong to one campaign at a time.
Before you start
Make sure the campaign is fully approved, not just filed. For standard use cases that usually happens together; for carrier-reviewed use cases, each carrier approves on its own timeline. Attaching a number before approval fails, see Phone number problems.
Attach a number
- Sign in to agentmessage.io and go to Numbers.
- Click the number you want to use.
- On the number's detail page, find the campaign section and pick the approved campaign.
- Save.
The attachment usually completes within a minute, and the number's detail page updates to show its campaign. To remove a number from a campaign, use the detach action on the same page.
You attach numbers one at a time today. If you need to bring a large set of numbers onto a campaign at once, contact us and we'll help you do it in bulk.
Move a number to a different campaign
Detach it from the first campaign, then attach it to the second. There's a brief window in between where the number isn't on any campaign, carriers block registered traffic from an unattached number, so for a number in active use, do the swap quickly or during quiet hours.
Take a number off 10DLC entirely
Detach its campaign. The number stays in your account but is no longer registered for A2P sending (it can still receive). To remove the number from your account altogether, use the release action, that's separate from detaching a campaign.
How many numbers can I attach?
The practical limit is the number of phone numbers your plan includes (more are available per your plan). For most programs that's the only ceiling you'll meet. If you need an unusually large pool of numbers on a single campaign, there are carrier-side considerations we handle behind the scenes, contact us and we'll set it up.
More numbers won't make you send faster, throughput is per campaign, not per number. See How throughput works.
After attaching
Send a single test message to a number you control before any large batch, it catches problems fast. Most attachments take effect within minutes, but carrier registries can lag; if delivery looks inconsistent in the first hour, give it a bit before troubleshooting.
